WHO WAS MEANT TO DO IT?
Invited stakeholders.
WHAT DID THEY DO?
Attended a conference which introduced the Coast Alive project to stakeholders to the County of Rogaland.
HOW DID THEY DO IT?
In the first year of the project, it was important to inform stake-holders and others about the Coast Alive project. The overall aim of the “Open Coast” is to reduce physical and mental barriers hindering physical activity among the in-active parts of the population and to help the beginning of a new pattern of light and enjoyable exercise for people who, for various reasons, are in-active today. Additionally, it is to show young children that walking and cycling can be fun, and thereby improve their future health and quality of life.
HOW MANY PARTICIPATED?
Approximately 50 people attended the conference.
DID IT WORK?
The objectives were met and the conference was carried out according to plans:
- The target for attendance was 50 people and approximately 50 people did attend.
- The feedback from the people attending the conference was very positive.
WAS IT SUCCESSFUL?
By sharing knowledge at international meetings and by using the project web site actively it was felt that this conference integrated with the activities of all themes.
The date chosen for the conference was Friday before the Easter holiday. Some key stakeholders were going away and were unable to attend. The date was chosen by one of the key speakers, a national highly profiled person. Another day would possibly have made more people turn out. On the other hand, 50 people attending were the target and the people that did attend said they were very inspired.
OTHER POINTS?
The event was a well planned, “straight forward” conference with interesting speakers and the important stakeholders present.
