CMI WORKSHOP FOR REGIONAL STAKEHOLDERS
CMI PARTNER:
Rogaland County Council, Norway, working with regional recreation boards, municipalities (health and outdoor recreation staff) and NGO’s.
WHO WAS MEANT TO DO IT?
Stakeholders.
WHAT DID THEY DO?
A stakeholder’s workshop was organised with a dual agenda which aimed to obtain feedback from the 2011 national/regional activities and plan the 2012 national/regional activities.
HOW DID THEY DO IT?
A workshop was planned for stakeholders. There were two major changes to the original plans.
1 Change of date
The work shop was planned to take place in December 2011. Because some of the attendants were in wheelchairs, suitable locations were limited due to the busy pre-Christmas season, resulting in a change of date to January 2012.
2 Multi-seminar
Most of the stakeholders working in public administration or NGOs were very busy people involved in a variety of projects and activities. While planning the workshop, the organisers became aware that “their” stakeholders were about to be invited to 3 different work shops/ seminars organised by the County Council, all within a short time span. Therefore, the idea of a “Multi-seminar” was born. Instead of competing for the same people’s time, it was decided to invite them all to a one-day “filled to the brim” seminar with topics related to outdoor recreation, but on a much broader theme than originally planned by the organizers.
HOW MANY PARTICIPATED?
Approximately 50 people from all 4 regions of the county
DID IT WORK?
The feed back from the participants was very good. The costs were split between 3 different budgets and they all got a wider public, a more interesting programme - for less money.
WAS IT SUCCESSFUL?
Yes, the key objectives were met.
Very positive feedback was received from different participants. The comments regarded both the type of arrangement (multi) and the quality and usefulness of the presentations.
A lesson was learned regarding finding suitable facilities in December. Also, whenever practical, “multi-seminars” will continue to be arranged instead of competing for stake holder’s attention by arranging several work shops.
OTHER POINTS?
The presentation of the key note speaker was of real interest to the other thematic areas of the work package.
This presentation was directly linked to the Rogaland CMI: “Grading of outdoor recreation areas” (separately summarised).
