Åkrehamn - picturesque harbour and one of Norway's finest beaches
A small road off the national highway 47 leads you to the old harbour in approximately 3-5 minutes. You will pass the entrance to the beach called "Åkrasanden", please look for signposts. In less then a minute you can find yourself in the sand dunes. This beach is worth a visit. It is the biggest and best-developed beach in North Rogaland, and is beautifully shaped by nature. On sunny summer days the beach is full of people, even though the temperature in the water rarely rises above + 20 degrees centigrade.
A new service building was finished in 2006. Here you can find toilets and showers. Bicycle parking and luggage storage is also on site.
Åkrehamn harbour is traditional in character, with both old and new boats. There are tables for picnic and cycle parking. Around the corner are public showers and toilets. If you want to fish or gaze at the ocean, try a walk out on the breakwater.
You can buy fish and seafood on the pier. Further south is "Åkra Seafood", where you can buy hot seafood dishes, which you can bring with you to your next stop. Across the road is Caroline's Coffee Shop. Accommodation is available at Øynå Bed & Breakfast if you wish to stay longer.
